Digitization projects or Digital Humanities?

As NGL event speaker Mark Tebeau has emphasized, a great many digital projects that result from collaborations among faculty, staff and students would more properly be called digital humanities. This is an emerging field in which cross-disciplinary work is the norm, and the roles of faculty, staff and students are less hierarchical.

An interesting report called Off the Tracks: Laying New Lines for Digital Humanities is a great starting point for discussions about this new field and its implications for new roles for library and archives staff in scholarly inquiry and publication. The online report welcomes comments, but it would be great if those of us in the OH5 would share comments with each other, on this and any other thoughts we have about our work on collaborative projects in the humanities.
